The Dallas Cowboys Have A 2 Year Window To Win The Super Bowl

Throughout last NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys decided to implement an offensive system that was centered around the running game and the play-action passing game. For instance, during the first two downs of a series, Dak Prescott would hand the ball off to Ezekiel Elliott in an attempt to force the opposing team to stack the box and set up a manageable third down. If the strategy was successful, the Cowboys called a play action pass where Dak would fake the handoff and go in the opposite direction to throw the ball to the flat or the crossing route fifteen yards down field. However, on occasion, Dak would fake the handoff to freeze the defense momentarily which allowed the receivers to get some separation as they try to complete a slant, in or out route. As a result of this, the Cowboys offense was able to stay on the field for a longer period which means that the opposing team had less time to feast on their defense. In fact, according to, the Cowboys offense was on the field for an average of “31:23” thus the defense was only on the field for 28:37.

Although this offensive system is expected to be in place for the foreseeable future, there is a reason to believe that the Cowboys will alter the system in 2019. 2019 is currently scheduled to be the final year Dak Prescott’s rookie contract. Therefore ownership is going to put pressure on the coaching staff to feature Prescott as the focal point of the offense. This is because ownership will want to see if Dak can make all the throws and carry the offense without depending on Elliott before they make a decision on whether to give him a franchise quarterback contract. As a result, the Cowboys will dial back on the play action bootlegs where he would fake the handoff to the running backs and roll out in the opposite direction to hit the wide open tight end. Instead, they will call the traditional three to five step drop passing plays to gauge whether Dak can make the right decision with the football when the defense is ready for a pass. The combination of these factors means that the offense will spend less time on the field because of incompletions, interceptions, sacks or big plays that result in short drives. As a consequence of this, the defense is likely to be on the field for a longer period which means that the opposing team has more time to feast on them. Therefore it is safe to say that the Cowboys best opportunity to reach the super bowl is in the next two years.

Jessica Andrade’s Predictability Should Cost Her The Fight Vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Even though many MMA pundits believe that Jessica Andrade is the toughest challenge to date for Joanna Jedrzejczyk, that shouldn’t be the case. Throughout her UFC career, Andrade has shown a tendency to constantly try to walk down her opponents in an attempt to get them into striking range. This trend has helped Andrade win the majority of her UFC fights because her opponents didn’t have the stamina to cut angles in the process of moving backward to avoid any strikes from landing. Due to this, some adversaries are forced to give into her pressure because they would attempt to cut angles and experience early fatigue from a lack of stamina, which would put them in a position to have to exchange with him. On the other hand, some opponents came to the conclusion that they were better off trading punches with him because they were aware of the fact that they didn’t have the stamina to cut angles. As a result, she would be given numerous chances to get into striking range and hurt the opponent. During these opportunities, she would repeatedly throw wide left or right hooks in hopes that one of the hooks can penetrate the defensive guard of the enemy and hurt her.  While this strategy has given Andrade so much success, there are a few flaws within this strategy that can be easily exploited. For instance, when she would try to walk down his opponents Andrade would always carry her hands at chest height. As a result, she would be leaving her head wide open to be countered throughout the entire fight.

Due to the lack of diversity in her fighting style, Andrade should have a difficult time closing the distance on Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Joanna is one of the few UFC fighters who is capable of cutting angles on a consistent basis. As a result, I expect her to circle out every time Andrade is about to close the distance. Once this happens, Joanna should have a tiny window to land a left jab followed by the straight right as Andrade is trying to turn her body to continue the pursuit of Jedrzejczyk. Ultimately this scenario should replay itself at various points throughout the fight, leading Joanna to win a lopsided decision.

The Oklahoma City Thunder Should Avoid Signing Blake Griffin (2017 Free Agency)

Even though the Oklahoma City Thunder are said to be interested in signing Blake Griffin this off-season, they should avoid him at all cost. Throughout this season the Thunder have implemented an offensive system that is centered around the post up as well as the pick and roll. For instance, Russell Westbrook brings the ball up to the three-point line and passes the ball to one of the big men in the low post. If the big man only sees one defender guarding him, he will attempt to back down the defender with one of his shoulders until he reaches a spot where he can try a jump hook, layup or dunk. However, if there is more than one defender on him, he will pass it back out to the perimeter which is what the other team wants. This is because the Thunder are one of the worse three-point shooting teams in the league thus opposing teams will put their whole team below the three-point line which encourages them to shoot.

Occasionally Billy Donovan will tell the team to run a pick and roll where Russell Westbrook brings the ball up to the three point line and then a big man setting a screen. Once the screen is established Russell Westbrook would pay attention to his defender to determine the next course of action, for instance, if the defender went under the screen, Russell Westbrook would go over the screen and take the wide open shot. On the other hand, if the defender went over the screen, Russell Westbrook would go over the screen as well and drive towards the basket where he would score or pass the ball to the player next to him or to the perimeter depending on whether he was double teamed or not. However, in most instances, the defender will go underneath the screen because the opposing team is aware that the Thunder are one of the worse three-point shooting teams in the league. As a result, Russell is forced to make a difficult decision on whether to shoot a three that he is most likely going to miss or take a heavily contested shot near the basket.

Team and Opponent Stats

Therefore if the Thunder want to become a legitimate contender in the Western Conference, they should avoid Blake Griffin in free agency. Griffin is a player who likes to receive the ball in the mid to low post and back down the defender with one of his shoulders until he reaches a spot where he can attempt a jump hook. Furthermore, on occasion, he will set a screen for a wing player and pay attention to his defender to determine the next course of action. For instance, if the defender is close to him he would attempt to dive towards the basket. However, if the defender were far away, he would pop for the mid-range jumper. As you can see Blake Griffin needs the ball below the three-point line to be effective thus, it would only further encourage the opposing team to keep their defenders in the painted area.

The WWE Missed An Opportunity To Book AJ Styles Vs. Samoa Joe At Wrestlemania 33

Even though AJ Styles is scheduled to face Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania 33, the WWE could’ve used Shane to set up AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe at the show. Over the past two months, the WWE has portrayed Samoa Joe as a hired gun for the McMahon family. For instance, when Seth Rollins was about to fight Triple H for the first time since he screwed him out of the universal title, Joe came from behind and attacked Seth for Triple H. As a result of this, when AJ Styles ambushed Shane McMahon backstage two weeks ago because McMahon wouldn’t honor his rematch clause for the WWE title, Shane could’ve easily called Triple H or Stephanie to ask them if he could borrow Joe to handle AJ. During this phone call, Triple H or Stephanie would’ve most likely given Shane permission to use Joe because there is an unwritten rule in the American society which states that when an outsider attacks a family member the family tends to unite to fight off the foreign threat. Once he acquired the services of Samoa Joe, Shane could’ve told AJ ” it is unbecoming of me to lay hands on my employees. But if you still want to unleash the pent-up frustration you have towards me against someone else, I’ve got the right guy for the job his name is Samoa Joe”. For the next couple of weeks, AJ acts like a man who only wants to fight Shane, but each time he is close to him, Joe is there to attack him.

Therefore Shane sets up a match between AJ and Joe for WrestleMania with a stipulation that if AJ wins he gets a one on one match with Shane at a future network special. However, if he does not win the match, he cannot appear on SmackDown for a year. Due to this, they would have a match at WrestleMania, but near the end of the match Shane comes out and screws AJ effectively doing a double turn. Therefore he is forced to leave SmackDown and go to Raw (which is the current rumor) where he reunites with the Club to immediately start a feud with the chosen ones from the authority (Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and possibly Finn Balor). This is because AJ becomes aware that Joe is working for the authority (by watching the product). As a result, he knows that they played a major role in him not being able to exact revenge on Shane and caused him to leave SmackDown. Due to this, AJ has one goal in mind which is destroying the authority which essentially turns him into the anti-establishment character.

As a result of this, The WWE creative team would’ve killed two birds with one stone. This is because they followed Vince’s orders of having Shane involved in a storyline with AJ while at the same time putting AJ in a match that is more appealing to the fans. Therefore it would eliminate any complaints from the fans that one of the best wrestlers in the world is being misused on the biggest show of the year (Wrestlemania 33). Furthermore running this storyline means that the WWE has their main angle in place for the next year thus fans wouldn’t have to figure out what is next for these eight characters.  But unfortunately, since Vince believes he can dictate what the fans like AJ vs. Joe didn’t happen.
